Coyle House
Coyle, WA
Under Construction 2024

A small house sitting at the tip of the Toandos Peninsula, two hours
outside of Seattle and at the foot of the Olympic Mountains.

The house is long and linear. Its energy is horizontal. Like a dock, it spans two
distinct conditions: forest and meadow. The interior spaces, flanking a central
corridor, exist on the forest-to-meadow spectrum. From private, damp, and shady,
to public, dry, and exposed. Along this axis, cantilevered decks and eaves, shifted
planes and double beams, float above the earth, elevating the inhabitants and
providing a heightened intimacy with the trees, the water, and Mt. Rainier: that great
mountain naturally framed in the distance.
