A speculative house in Denver's Santa Fe Art District, designed in collaboration with local art gallerist Sandy Carson. The design is self-reflexive, beginning with a floor plan of two intersecting rectangles, oriented at a 10-degree difference. Where the rectangles overlap and diverge, specific functional spaces—such as bathrooms, utilities, and storage—are carefully defined. This dynamic creates a serrated profile on the second level, which informs the house’s section and sawtooth roof. Conceptually, the architecture embraces multiple interiors, where ascending to the upper level blurs the boundary between ‘inside’ and ‘outside,’ inviting one to experience being within the walls, yet beyond the house itself.
The art district on Santa Fe embraces the eccentric and 753 Inca St creates a new contribution to the creativity of the community. Clean, modern design blends seamlessly with elements of dramatic light, shape and pattern while giving a distinctive nod to neighborhood and history.
